(North Bend, OR) - Work starting this week in the parking area at the Southwest Oregon Regional Airport could impact traffic and passengers accessing the terminal. The Coos County Airport District (CCAD) is working to improve the safety of vehicles accessing the loading areas near the terminal. That includes adding a dedicated shuttle bus loading area between Parking Lots #1 and #2.

Knife River Materials has been awarded the contract to remove curbs, grass, and asphalt. The work includes repaving the parking area and adding curbs in the shuttle bus parking area. The work will take place during the day starting Wednesday, August 14, 2024, and continuing through Monday, August 19, 2024. Work is also planned for the week of August 26, 2024.

The latest project is part of several phases of improving access, safety, and efficiency for passengers and transportation companies at the airport. Last year, a curbed roundabout at the terminal entrance was removed. Lighting in the lots was updated to LEDs. Light bollards were also updated to cost-saving LED lights near the terminal entrance. Most recently, rental car leased spaces were moved from the middle parking lot (#2) to lower parking lot #1.

CCAD plans work to improve access including dedicated sidewalks leading from the three parking lots to the terminal. The terminal is located at 1100 Airport Lane in North Bend OR. For questions, contact the airport administration office at (541) 756-8531 or email stephanie@flyoth.com.
