Andrew Brainard (Commissioner-elect Position #5) was born In Portland Oregon before being adopted by his grandparents and moved to Coos Bay at just six weeks old. Except for a short four years in Florence, he has lived in Coos Bay all his life. He currently works as the Director of Homeless Response, which through a mutual agreement, is coordinated through Coos County and the Cities of Coos Bay and North Bend. Prior to that he worked for nearly two decades for the Confederated Tribes of the Coos, Lower Umpqua, and Siuslaw Indians, of which he is also a member. He also dabbled in the world of radio broadcasting for Bicoastal Media and as an intern for K-DOCK Radio.

Commissioner-elect Brainard is no stranger to volunteerism. He is currently assisting with North Bend Main Street and the Salvation Army. He has also been a board member with the Bay Area Chamber of Commerce and Coos Elderly Services. He is now looking forward to serving the Coos County Airport District with his priorities being the Airport Heights-area park, airport property signage, and seeking opportunities to enhance commercial air service, especially northbound service.
