Dog Park Closes at Request of Volunteers

3 February 2025

The Coos County Airport District has closed the temporary dog park and nearby parking lot at the request of volunteers who have managed the area for several years.  Volunteers recently contacted the district about closing the park citing a loss of volunteers to provide park upkeep and an uptick of people dumping household garbage in and around the park.  To keep the area open, airport staff had reached out to other potential organizations to assist with the maintenance and upkeep before closing the dog park and parking lot.

The property was temporarily provided for the dog park with the understanding that if the need arose to utilize the property for airport or district purposes, it would return to the airport district. That happened with the former dog park located below the current area when work began on the expanded apron and future cargo facility. Airport staff and the board of commissioners appreciate all the hard work and dedication dog park volunteers have given through the years and apologize for any inconvenience.

The dog park and parking areas are located off Colorado Avenue above W. Airport Way in North Bend. While airport maintenance crews will continue to monitor the area, it is important to note that CCAD policy prohibits the habitation and disposal of refuse/waste materials on airport property.
