REAL ID DEADLINE TO FLY COMMERCIALLY APPROACHING FAST

Want to fly commercially and use your state driver's license to board? Starting May 7th, you’ll have to use REAL ID, a passport or another acceptable form of ID. REAL ID cannot be obtained online; you must visit a DMV office and bring original or certified documents to prove:

  • Identity (such as a U.S. passport or birth certificate)
  • Date of Birth
  • Oregon Residence Address
  • Lawful Status in the U.S.
  • Social Security Number (or proof of ineligibility)

For those without a REAL ID, there are alternative forms of identification that will be accepted at TSA checkpoints, including:

  • U.S. Passport or U.S. Passport Card
  • DHS Trusted Traveler Cards (Global Entry, NEXUS, SENTRI, or FAST)
  • U.S. Military ID
  • Permanent Resident Cards (Green Cards)
  • Tribal-issued Photo IDs
  • Foreign Government-Issued Passports
  • Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC)

To get a REAL ID in Oregon, residents will need to visit a local DMV office in person. REAL ID is optional! If you have a passport or another TSA-approved ID, you do not need a REAL ID to fly. To check the required documents click the button below.
