Delivery Delays Put Playground Equipment Removal on Hold

(North Bend, OR) – The playground at Airport Heights Park will remain open Saturday and Sunday, June 3-4, 2023. Unfortunate delays in the delivery of replacement equipment would have rendered portions of the playground unusable over summer. Instead, airport staff will work to make swings usable and paint some of the existing structures.

The Coos County Airport District (CCAD) will still move forward with the multi-year park rehabilitation project. CCAD recently assumed responsibility for the maintenance and upkeep of the park after a lengthy land lease was terminated with the City of North Bend. The park is located within the property boundary of the Coos County Airport District.

The district is working with a local organization on a multi-year phased plan for the airport park property. The public will have several opportunities for input and to learn more about the project over the course of this planning stage.
